Spike Bull

Spike Bull Elk
On Friday October 10th at around 11am I took my first elk in Idaho. It happened so fast I could hardly believe it was over after only 3 1/2hrs of hunting. But then the work begins, quartering, hauling and cutting the elk up. But in the end we have a lot of great tasting meat. It was a great hunt and I could not have asked for anything more.

Elk Down

Elk
Just a couple of pictures of the elk. It took 2hrs to quarter him and 1hr to haul him to the opening at the top of this picture.

Elk Pole
After about 5hrs of packing the meat out to camp it is finally hung on the meat pole to cool. It was about 15 degrees that night so it was a good night for the meat to hang.

Opening Morning

Opening Morning
Opening morning brought a little snow. I worked the ridges glassing for elk or deer going through the openings
