Saturday Jan. 17th
The first duck we got after about an hour of hunting. Lots of shooting on this day.
Sunday Hunt
This morning Erin & I went out jump shooting ducks. The snow was crunchy so it made it tough to sneak up on the ducks. Erin held Odessa back while I walked ahead. It worked really well. I passed on a couple shots thinking I would get better shots further down the river, but it did not work out. We were happy to get two ducks. Odessa did really well finding the ducks when she never saw them get up.
Duck #1
Odessa waited for shooting light when we first got to our spot while ducks and geese flew high over our heads. When we got to the first spot Erin held Odessa back about 50 yards while I walked the canal. Two ducks got up and I shot one of them. Erin released Odessa and she ran past me and found the duck in the brush and brought it back.

Duck #2
Got the 2nd duck at the last spot. Erin had Odessa back at the truck and I went for one last walk and got a shot at a nice group of ducks. The duck swam to a group of cattails and Erin brought Odessa out to see if she could find the duck. It took a minute, but she found the duck hiding in the cattails. The bottom picture is hard to see but she is bringing the duck out of the water.

New Years Day Hunt
This morning I took Odessa out trying to jump shoot ducks. It was hard to get close because the snow was frozen and it made a lot of noise and the ducks and geese got up before we could get close. I did manage to get on three different groups of ducks but there was always a tree in the way and I could not get a shot. Finally at the last spot this one got up and I got a decent shot. She was hit on the first shot but still flew 150 yards and went down in a stubble field. Odessa was hot on its heels and brought it right back. She did really well.
Christmas Day Hunt
On Christmas day Odessa and I went out for a quick last pheasant hunt. We hunted for a couple hours and managed to get this last rooster of the year.
